The special exhibition sheds light on the topic of "crime" in the town's history from the Middle Ages to the present day.
A wide variety of items from Lahr and the surrounding area, some of which are rarely exhibited, can be seen here: from executioner's utensils and weapons of war to sketches and police uniforms.
"Tat-Sachen" stands for the objects as well as for the facts and stories behind the cases on display.
The exhibition illustrates the extent to which the understanding of justice and injustice was - and still is - subject to change over time.

Go on a search for clues yourself in the clay kiln factory!

Andreas Krellmann: City history in caricatures
Source: Lahr City Museum

Always approachable, humorous or pointed - Andreas Krellmann's drawings about events in Lahr and the surrounding area delight newspaper readers every week. It all started with a caricature about the Lahr airfield, and his pen has since immortalized countless topics. For the Lahr City Museum, the caricatures are wonderful historical documents that reflect important topics, personalities, stories, anecdotes and the spirit of the times. After more than 30 years and over 1,500 drawings, the time has long since come to pay tribute to Krellmann's work with a first exhibition of his own. "Krellmann. City History in Caricatures and Other Graphic Works" was curated by Andreas Krellmann himself and shows a selection of over 40 drawings, some of them unpublished, as well as other works by the artist.

*incorporation
Source: Lahr City Museum

In 1972, the town of Lahr was expanded by seven districts in one fell swoop as a result of the municipal reform. The citizens of Hugsweier, Kippenheimweiler, Kuhbach, Langenwinkel, Mietersheim, Reichenbach and Sulz decided to join the town of Lahr in a referendum. Even though the results of the vote were clear, the incorporation was more than just a sober administrative act. On the contrary: the loss of political independence was also discussed emotionally in some cases.
